With its imposing summits and deep blue mountain lakes, the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Reserve extends behind the Hotel Rommisa. Countless trails criss-cross this unique nature reserve, one of them leading up the Rammelstein – the mountain overlooking Oberwielenbach.
There are also spectacular natural sights, such as the unusual Earth Pyramids of Platten or the waterfalls in Sand in Taufers. Natural attractions in the Pustertal Valley include the Antholzersee and the Pragser Wildsee lakes, as well as the renowned Kronplatz (Plan de Corones) ski and hiking area. In winter, the Kronplatz ski area (which is part of the Dolomiti Superski network) and the Antholz Biathlon Centre draw skiing enthusiasts and cross-country skiers to the Pustertal Valley.
