The Earth Pyramids of Platten are a unique natural phenomenon that never fails to amaze. These earth pillars that seem artificial, are topped with stones. However, they aren’t man-made but the result of gradual soil erosion, landslides and melting snow. Moreover, these strange outgrowths continually evolve as constant erosion creates new columns.
You can reach these amazing stone formations right from the Hotel Rommisa. Take the Pyramidenweg trail across the pastures, forest paths, steps and wooded slopes to the ridge beneath the Höllerhof farm. From here, follow the signs to the Earth Pyramids. The way back is 5 km long and lasts about two hours.
