The most important one being that owners Helene and Walter leave the day to day management of the hotel to the younger side of the family, their daughter Katharina and her husband Philipp, but still play an active role themselves.
One member of the family is always present on site. At the Rommisa you can share a laugh with your hosts and with locals at the bar. And we laugh together a lot.
Happiness, family, a quiet location and enjoyment are for us the most important priorities in our work.

Thanks for deciding to stop by! I’m a 3-star-superior hotel in Oberwielenbach in the Pustertal Valley (Val Pusteria) in Northern Italy. This idyllic Alpine setting lies at the entrance of the Riesenferner-Ahrn Nature Park in South Tyrol. We’re just a ten-minute drive from Bruneck (Brunico) and from here the Dolomites are clearly visible.
Since there’s always a member of the Niederwolfsgruber-Carli family around, I’m never left untended. After all, someone has to take care of the numerous guests who come to stay here both in summer and in winter. Katharina and Philipp have just taken over, but the older generation Helene and Walter still continue to take care of us — you and me, that is.
I was recently given a facelift. My traditional South Tyrolean facade remains, but I’ve received a makeover. I’m named after the Rammelstein mountain that towers over me, which locals affectionately refer to as “Rommisa”. With just 12 rooms, I'm not exactly big but I can say that I'm both welcoming and congenial. My new Spa area looks out onto the garden, with fantastic views of the Dolomites and the majestic Kronplatz (Plan de Corones). You’ll be amazed …!
Starting right at the main door, the hiking trail leads into the forest before meandering through the meadows. Across the Tallile Alpine pasture hiking area, hikers find themselves surrounded by flowers. In winter, the snow-covered landscape exudes a sense of peace and serenity. And if you’re the sporty kind, I have a shuttle ready to take you to the Kronplatz ski area. From my south-facing balconies are wonderful views of the whole valley all the way to the top of the Rommisa. My north-facing rooms look out onto the forest. Sometimes you can even catch a glimpse of deer as they scamper across the fields.
Needless to say, I’m well-known to the locals down in the valley, all the way from Oberwielenbach to Bruneck and even further afield. You see, I’m more than just a 3-star-superior hotel. My Restaurant is also well-known throughout the Pustertal Valley. Around in these parts, everything literally revolves around the kitchen. Even my kitchen is located in the middle of the establishment. Our up-coming owner, Philipp, is also our chef, creating innovative platters which are reinterpretations of traditional South Tyrolean dishes. Katharina, our hostess and sommelière, serves paired wines, including noble wines from the region. Back in the kitchen Philipp conjures up his culinary magic, his specialities are delicious grilled meat dishes.
It might be a truism, but wherever people are at ease, they’re able to relax. With its panoramic terrace and marvellous view of the valley stretching all the way up to the Dolomites, my congenial barroom is one of the most favoured meeting points. Our guests feel at home almost as much as the locals, as they chat and exchange experiences with one another. There's plenty of partying with dancing and the sound of laughter. I’ve been very fortunate with my owners, Katharina and Philipp, who’re always in good spirits. This goes well with my hospitable demeanour and my new and revamped look!
Whether you’re a couple or a family with kids, you can really feel at home here. For instance, as in my Spa area. In the sauna, time passes just as quickly as on those long, leisurely walks through the forest. Don’t you believe me?
